Training Program Dynamics

Our training program was designed to be used individually, interacting with the trainee. Because this program was developed to be used in a PC station and many people are still not used to view and analyze pictures on a monitor screen, the trainee is allowed to take the course twice. The first time will not count for his/her final evaluation. On the second time, the trainee will redo the whole training program to be evaluated for his/her performance. As soon as the course is completed, the exercises done will be available only as a reference. During the second time the trainee takes the program, the exercises will be presented in a different order, for a more precise analysis of the user's performance.

Training starts with Light and Color Theory. In this section, we explain the basic principles of color and light, how to correct prints with color and/or density deviations and an explanation on film negatives analysis.

Following Color and Light Theory, the trainee will learn how to set up a color chart, an important tool in a photo lab. This will truly help the printer operator and the printer control supervisor during the production stage.

In the next step, the trainee will practice print and film negative density, color correction, and finally he/she will be able to practice both color and density corrections at the same time.

In the beginning of each set of exercises, the user will have the chance to practice print densities and color print corrections. We call them memorization exercises and they will not be considered in the final evaluation.

Every exercise has a window with information that will guide the user on the tasks to be completed there.

The exercises were designed with color prints that have density or color problems. The corrections of those problems can be made with the use of the computer keyboard, which simulates the printer keyboard. Corrected photos - even when improperly corrected - will appear on the monitor screen so that the trainee can check and analyze the results. In each exercise, the trainee will have 3 chances to get the correct answer. After the third try, even if the answer is still wrong, the user will be led to the following exercise. Correct answers will only be shown on the consultation screen.

At the end of each set of exercises, the number of correct answers and the trainee's performance percentage will appear on the screen. Because there are 3 chances to answer each question, for each try, a different weight on the trainee's score will be given.

All exercises follow a logical sequence with increasing levels of difficulty. The trainee should obtain a minimum of 70% correct answers in order to move to the next exercise. If that number is not reached, the program will automatically return to the beginning of that section, so that he/she can repeat the exercises.

On the consultation screen, the user will be able to visualize all exercises and applied corrections, as well as each evaluation.
